Gemeinsam mit IEA (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement) und der WERA (World Education Research Association) schreibt  der Arbeitsbereich Interkulturelle und iInternational Vergleichende Erziehungswissenschaft (Prof. Dr. Ingrid Gogolin) seit 2019 jährlich den "WERA Visiting Researcher Award" aus. Bewerben können sich Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen aus aller Welt, die im Rahmen eines mehrwöchigen Aufenthalts an der Universität und bei IEA Hamburg eine eigene Forschungsfrage mit Unterstützung durch beide Institutionen bearbeiten können. Sie wird ihr Projekt  "Self-Concept towards Mathematics from 1980 – 2019: Exploring the ”Immigrant Paradox” Controlling for Absolute and Relative Measures of SES and the BFLPE"durchführen und ist ab dem 1. Dr. Ioulia Televantou is a researcher in quantitative social science. Her research interests lie in the application of advanced quantitative techniques (multilevel modelling, multilevel latent variable models) in large-scale, data driven research assessing the effect of peers/peer assisted learning on students’ academic and affective outcomes. Her major focus has been on the improvement of the estimate of the school- and the class- composition effect, often interpreted as a peer effect, on students’ individual outcomes (achievement, self-concept), by means of correcting for measurement error bias and omitted variable bias.
