Introducing an interdisciplinary research project that is dedicated to consider internationalization as a valuable resource within Higher Education Institutions, linkages between sustainability and multilingualism are outlined. UHH-Researchers from Educational Sciences, Linguistics, Law, Medicine and other disciplines work together to gain insights of how multilingualism at Higher Education Institutions – in research, teaching and administration – can be identified, evaluated and transferred into an assett for academic as well as general communication challenges.
The four affiliated projects are presenting their work on:
- Foreign Language Skills as a Resource in University Governance: A Quantitative Case Study on the University of Hamburg (Schrödler)
- Multilingualism in a Hospital Setting – Needs, Resources and Practices (Bührig, Maggu, Mösko, Schulz & Vogt)
- Languages of Instruction: English as a Lingua Franca in the Multilingual University (Mueller & Siemund)
- Multilingualism in the Production of Academic Discourse: A Work in Progress Report (Giannoutsou, Antroutsopoulos & Schmitt)
