Grandparental Involvement in Children's Educational Outcomes in Rural, Urban and Migration Settings in China
Supervisor: Ingrid Gogolin
The research topic to be performed will be at the intersection of research on Family, Education and Social Inequality in the case of People’s Republic of China. More specifically, the research topic will be the effect of grandparental involvement on grandchildren’s educational outcomes by using panel data of China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) and observe its variation in rural, urban and migrant settings based on multigenerational co-residence and various household structures. In addition, this research project will explore whether (grand) parenting practices and their financial investment on children mediate or moderate the multigenerational effect on children’s educational outcomes.
