Disability and Inclusion in a Global World
Disability is part of everyday life: Between 11% and 25% of the world’s population have disabilities. Inclusion is thoroughly discussed in several countries all over the world since signing the UN-Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. But what does inclusion mean in multicultural societies? How can inclusion be realized in a globalized world which deals with different and intersecting forms of exclusion? What approaches to disabilities and inclusion exist in different cultural or religious contexts? How can barriers be removed and accessibility be ensured in all parts of society?
In the framework of the DAAD-Program “Higher Education Dialogue with the Muslim World” the Faculty of Education at the University of Hamburg (UHH) organizes in cooperation with the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg (HAW) and the Razi-Foundation from 01 to 03 July 2017 a conference in Hamburg entitled “Disability and Inclusion in a Global World”.
