Doctoral Program
Theory courses and colloquia
Theory courses and colloquia for doctoral students (with focus on varying theoretical and methodological aspects) are mostly offered throughout the term. Current content and times can be found in the doctoral program (German language only).
Workshops on methods
In-depth-workshops on various research methods are now offered as part of the doctoral program (German only).
The speakers' presentations can be found in the EduCommSy room called "Graduiertenprogramm".
English Writing
In cooperation with the language center of the Universität Hamburg, we offer regularly a course "academic writing" in English language for doctoral students and post-docs of our faculty.
Writing workshop
The writing or text workshop helps you to get on with the scientific texts you are currently writing. You can discuss with like-minded people about what is essential when writing scientific texts in the field of education. The details are listed in the current doctoral program (German only).
There are also a number of other writing workshops or courses offered by various institutions within the Universität Hamburg for doctoral students. The Schreibwerkstatt Mehrsprachigkeit has compiled a list of those offers.
Lecture series
During each term, high-quality speakers hold lectures for doctoral students and post-docs on a regular basis. These lectures cover topical subjects from all academic fields of education. Afterwards, the participants have the opportunity to discuss the topic and to place their own questions.

Summer School
Once a year the graduate school organizes a summer school that lasts several days. High-ranking scientist provide lectures and workshops on one main topic. Details are described in the program of the current summer school.
Taking part offers a good opportunity to set up a network beyond this university.

Peer-to-Peer-Beratung
Advising sessions for educational science doctoral students are held at 3 – 4 pm on the second and fourth friday of the month in Room 309.
Peer advising sessions are an opportunity to discuss questions about doctoral studies with a doctoral student. Individual problems can be clarified and experiences shared. Advising sessions are open to both current and prospective doctoral students.
