The working group is active in research, teaching and transfer on the topics of "Intercultural Education", "Migration and its consequences for education and upbringing" and "Multilingualism and language education". - MEZ & MEZ-2
Ingrid Gogolin is head of the projects Multilingualism Development over Time (MEZ) & Multilingualism Development over Time 2 (MEZ-2). As a longitudinal study, MEZ analysed contextual, personal and linguistic conditions of multilingualism. MEZ-2 focussed on the transition to employment of young people with and without a migration background and examined linguistic developments in this context. - PHYDIV
As part of the PHYDIV project team, Ingrid Gogolin is working on the development and testing of teaching approaches that take into account the linguistic composition of the learning group in order to achieve better learning outcomes in the subject. This is exemplified by the subject of physics. - Next Generation Literacies
The Next Generation Literacies network promotes young researchers in the field of linguistic diversity and aims to analyse the institutional structures of dealing with linguistic diversity within and between countries. The network is jointly led by Ingrid Gogolin, Silvía Melo Pfeiffer, Ingrid Piller (Macquarie University Sydney) and Yongyan Zheng (Fudan University Shanghai).
- Language on the Move
Language on the Move is a peer-reviewed sociolinguistic research site focusing on multilingualism, language learning and intercultural communication in the context of globalisation and migration. Language on the Move aims to make sociolinguistic research accessible to a broad global audience. - KWiK
Together with Olaf Köller, Dirk Hastedt and Thorsten Klinger, Ingrid Gogolin has carried out a study on approaches used by schools to overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic. You can find the results of the study by following the link.
- DIWAN
The joint project "Diversity and change in parenting in migrant families from the perspective of parents and professional practice (DIWAN)" focussed on the change in parenting styles and guidelines from different perspectives. The project was realised in cooperation with Sabine Walper, German Youth Institute Munich. The Hamburg sub-project was led by Ingrid Gogolin and Bernhard Nauck.
- Tutoring for All
As part of the Tutoring for All project team, Ingrid Gogolin helped develop a digitally supported tutoring programme to promote reading among primary school children.
- WERA
Ingrid Gogolin was interim president of the World Education Research Association (WERA) from 2009 to 2010 and also served as WERA liaison from July 2022 to June 2024. As an association of national, regional, and international professional organisations, WERA promotes educational research.
- Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft
Ingrid Gogolin is Senior Editor of the Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft. As a scientific journal, the ZfE is regarded as a leading medium in educational research. - Mehrsprachigkeit im Fachunterricht
Based on the findings of the PhyDiv research project, the Begabungslotse portal, with the help of Ingrid Gogolin and the PhyDiv team, provides methods for implementing multilingualism in subject lessons. - American Educational Research Journal
Ingrid Gogolin will be part of the editorial team of the American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) from July 2024. With its articles, the AERJ promotes the empirical, theoretical, and methodological understanding of education and learning.
