Information regarding exams
Authorization:
I give thankts to my colleague Christoph Koller who made the suggestions for the following explanations.
I'm autorized to examine in the following study programmes:
- Bachelor's Programme educational science; supervision of the bachelor and master thesis
- Magister's Programme: supervision of the magister thesis; examination in educational science (test and orally)
- Master's Programme multilingual educational lingustics/MOTION; supervision of the master thesis
- Teaching positions (BA/MEd); supervision of Bachelor and Master thesis
Guideline of thesis'
I supervise thesis' in the following (parts of) study programmes:
- Bachelor's Programme educational science; Supervision of the bachelor or master thesis (bachelor thesis ca. 30 pages; master thesis ca. 70-100 pages)
- Diploma Programme: Supervision of the diploma thesis
- Master's Programme multilingual educational lingustics/MOTION; supervision of the master thesis (ca. 80 pages)
- Teaching positions (BA/MEd); supervision of bachelor and master thesis (bachelor thesis ca. 30 pages; master thesis ca. 60 pages)
Conditions for the supervision of a thesis are:
- that you have participated in at least one of my seminars and have also acquired ECTS or an activity confirmation
- that the topic is part of my working area
- that there's an exposé that includes subject matter, leading question, theoretical framework and method(s) of the planned thesis
- that you present your intentions in my consultation-hour
Among others my appraisal factors are:
- a clear structure of the thesis (abstract, introduction, current status of research, leading quenstion(s) and assumptions, results, reflections)
- a factual, understandable and concise exposition of the questionned theory, the current status of research and the methods of the exploration
- a differencentiating explanation of the used terms
- placement of the theory and/or the method(s) in bigger contexts (e.g. in historical or international contexts; relation with other theories)
- a clear, detailed and justified presentation of the method(s) of your exploration
- a factual, understandable and differentiating presentation of your results and a placement in the status of research
- a refelction of your approach (strengths and weaknesses of your exploration)
- compliance of formal aspects, especially: compliance of a consistent convention of citation
Guideline of tests
In exceptional situations I'm willing to do tests for the following study programmes:
- Teaching Positions (LOA and LA Grumi):
- Educational science (5 hours)
- Diploma Programme:
- General educational science (5 hours)
- Magister's Programme:
- main subject educational science (5 hours)
- minor subject educational science (5 hours)
Conditions of being examined by me:
- that you have participated in at least one of my seminars and have also acquired an activity confirmation
- that we agree on one subject area
- that you have presented you ambition in my consultation-hour
Early enough we have to agree upon a list of literature (ca. 5-10 titles per subject area) that you give to me. I need this as a basis to frame concrete questions for the test.
Among others my appraisal factors are:
- a clear structure and an abstract that introduces in the process of work
- a factual, understandable and concise exposition of the questionned theory, the current status of research and the methods of the exploration
- a differencentiating explanation of the used terms
- a reflective test of the theory's and method's ranges and boundaries in the context of examples (e.g. of the empirical research or educational action fields)
- the autonomous, critical examination with theory and method(s)
- a clear separation between a reproduction of other positions and an own critical examination
Guideline of oral exams
I supervise oral exams in the following study programmes:
- Master's Programme educational science; oral final exam
- Master's Programme multilingual educational lingustics/MOTION; oral final exam (45 minutes)
- Teaching positions (MEd); oral final exam (30 minutes)
Conditions of an oral exam are:
- that you have participated in at least one of my seminars and have also acquired an activity confirmation
- that we agree on one subject area for the exam
- that you have been supervised during your master thesis in the case of an oral final exam
The basis of the examination talk is one list of literature and one handout per subject.
- the list of literature should include ca. 10 titles and has to be presented early enough before the exam preparation
- You have to bring the handout with you to the exam
Among others my appraisal factors are:
- a factual, understandable and concise exposition of the questionned theory, the current status of research and the methods of the exploration
- a differencentiating explanation of the used terms
- a reflective test of the theory's and method's ranges and boundaries in the context of examples (e.g. of the empirical research or educational action fields)
- the autonomous, critical examination with theory and method(s)
- the discursive mobility concerning the confrontation with demands, dissents or competitive positions
- During your oral final exam based on your master thesis you have to be able to:
- present and reason your question(s) and assumptions of your work
- present and reason your chosen method(s)
- present selected results of your exploration and put it in the context of current results of research
- reflect your course of action and the range of your results
- discuss aspects that are beyond the scope of your exploration during the talk.
Master Programme "Multilingual Educational Linguistics/ MOTION"
The master programme MOTION (Multilingual Educational Linguistics) is structured interdisciplinarily and teaches the current standard of knowledge concerning the phenomenon of multilingualism in urban spaces.

Programme CAMPUS EUROPAE
The programme "CAMPUS EUROPAE" of the European University Foundation, Luxemburg extends Erasmus in three different ways:
It includes universities of the EU: university Gazi in Ankara, state university St. Petersburg, university Novgorod and university Novi Sad in Serbia.
It provides staying abroad during a full study year, the acknowledgement of all acquired ECTS, the awarding of a Campus Europae Certificate. When you stay abroad in two countries with different teaching languages you'll get a CAMPUS Europae degree by the Luxembourgian right additionally and the local degree.
There's the possibility of a connection between study and experiences in the own professional field as a connection of the plans of Bologna and Lisbon by a Learning Employability Placement Programm (LEP) with additional opportunities of scholarships.
