From September 27-29, 2023, the 18th WiPSCE Conference on Primary and Secondary Computing Education Research (WiPSCE 2023) took place at Robinson College in Cambridge (UK). The WiPSCE is organized annually under the direction of the German Informatics Society (GI) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as an international conference for networking and the discussion of current, high-quality research in the field of computer science education. Every second year in Germany.
This year, Moritz Kreinsen (PhD student in the Computer Science Education group at the University of Hamburg) and Anna Rabe (student teacher) presented the results of a pilot study on “How to Deal with Student's Conceptions: Conceptual Change Texts on Artificial Intelligence” in collaboration with Dr. Finja Grospietsch (formerly in Biology Education at the University of Hamburg, now at the IPN Kiel) and group leader Prof. Dr. Sandra Schulz. The pilot study provides initial important findings on the implementation of concept change activities in computer science lessons at secondary levels I and II on the subject of artificial intelligence, which has been evaluated since this school year with the new curriculum guidelines for computer science at secondary level II in Hamburg.
