At the University of Klagenfurt, Prof. Dr. Annika Wille works at the Institute for Mathematics Education. Her scientific commitment as a mathematician with a doctorate for deaf and hearing-impaired students developed from her interest in sign language. On Monday, she presented her research results in a talk. The talk focused on the teaching situation of deaf and hearing impaired students, who are usually taught together with hearing students in Austria, as well as on the characteristics of mathematical signs in ÖGS. In addition, she pointed out special features that can arise when explaining mathematics in spoken and signed languages.
We thank Annika Wille for her interesting and informative talk!
