You can find all information (don´t miss the application deadlines) and the online application form for German as a second language courses on this site.
Learning Agreement
We also need a Learning Agreement from you, that lists all courses you would like to attend during your exchange semester at the University of Hamburg. You can find all offered courses in the “Vorlesungsverzeichnis” in STINE. As the gernal study structure and courses offered normally does not change, you can have a look at the “Vorlesungsverzeichnis” of past semesters to get an idea what courses are usually offered. How to find the offered courses will be explained in the following.
Selection of courses
If you want to attend a course in educational science (Erziehungswissenschaft), teacher profession (Lehramt) or German studies (Germanistik), please click on the desired semester period (e.g. WiSe 21/22) and choose Fakultät für Erziehungswissenschaft --> Erziehungswissenschaft. Now you can choose between classes for undergraduates (Veranstaltungen zur Erziehungswissenschaft für Bachelorstudiengänge) and master (Veranstaltungen zur Erziehungswissenschaft für Masterstudiengänge).
If you want to attend undergraduate courses, select 0aAllgemeine Erziehungswissenschaft or 0bStudienschwerpunkte Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaft for courses in educational science. For classes in teaching profession you can click every other topic in this area. If you want to attend a course in German studies, please click on
0gFachdidaktisches Grundlagenstudium or 0iFachdidaktiken.
If you want to attend courses on master level, please select Veranstaltungen zur Erziehungswissenschaft für Masterstudiengänge. Then you can choose between courses in educational science (Veranstaltungen für den Masterstudiengang Erziehungs- und Bildungswissenschaft) and courses in teacher profession (Veranstaltungen für die Lehramtsstudiengänge).
Please note that there are also courses offered in English. If you are interested, please contact us. We will send you the list of courses before the semester starts.
Intensive German language course before the semester
Please create your Learning Agreement (with a minimum of 30 ECTS) based on the information provided above. Take into consideration that we only offer a limited number of courses in English at the Faculty of Education, so you need an intermediate level of German (B1/B2) to study here.
It is highly recommended to attend an intensive German language course. The language courses during the summer semester start in March and courses for the winter semester start in September. If you want to sign up for a language course, please contact the International Office (Referat Internationalisierung) (address see below).
