Jeff Bravin: „The American School for the Deaf: A Global Gateway to Deaf Education“
19 November 2019
On Tuesday evening, Jeff Bravin, executive director of the American School for the Deaf, provided insight into his personal career and his school. He presented the history of the American School for the Deaf, its school concept and support services. He also spoke about the importance of American Sign Language in everyday teaching. He particularly emphasized the appreciation of the students and, thus, the promotion of developing life perspectives for themselves. In the further course of his presentation, he also reported on the successful cooperation with the aid organization 'Deaf Reach' in East Africa and emphasized the special added value of international cooperation for deaf students.
We thank Jeff Bravin for a stimulating talk and the Deaf Association Hamburg, the Institute for German Sign Language and the Elbschule for planning and accompanying the event.
