DAAD program Lehramt.InternationalAlumni network "International im Lehramt" founded

The Faculty of Education, together with the Ministry of School and Vocational Education, has founded the alumni network "International im Lehramt", to internationalize all phases of teacher training in Hamburg.

The alumni network "International im Lehramt" (German only) provides an important foundation for intensifying the exchange between the institutions involved in teacher training and bringing together the various target groups. The goal of the network is to promote interest in internationality and diversity in teacher training and the profession of teaching and to encourage a dialog between those involved in teaching.

Who is the alumni network for?

Are you studying to become a teacher at Universität Hamburg and have completed a study abroad program? Are you a teacher in the teaching practice period at a school in Hamburg and would like to incorporate topics on internationality into your lessons? Are you teaching at a school and have done projects with your students that have to do with foreign countries? Or do you teach at a German school abroad? Then the alumni network is the right place for you!

What does the alumni network offer?

By subscribing to the newsletter, published 3 times a year, you automatically become a member of the network. You will receive information about international projects that have been tested in a classroom setting, current calls for grant applications for projects dealing with international topics, and announcements for up-coming alumni events. Subscribe to the newsletter here and join the network.

Alumni events offer time and space for personal exchange. Due to current events, the first alumni event cannot take place in fall 2021 as planned, but had to be postponed to an early date in 2022. Further information will be made available on the website in due time.

The alumni network "International im Lehramt" will host a chat room on the platform Alumniportal Deutschland. You must register to participate. Here you can get involved in the organization of the alumni network.

Development context

The alumni network was developed within the framework of the Diversity Contexts in Teacher Education project. The project aims to internationalize the orientation teaching placement module in teacher training degrees, anchor international and diversity-related topics in teacher training programs, and internationalize all phases of teacher training in Hamburg. The project is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from funds provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
