Representatives from different areas in teacher education in Hamburg met on Monday, 16 May 2022, for the second conference of the "International im Lehramt" network to exchange thoughts on diversity and share international experiences within a school context.
The second conference of the International im Lehramt (in German only) network took place on Monday, 16 May 2022 in the auditorium of the Studienkolleg. We are delighted with the high level of interest in the conference and the network, both of which aim to foster diversity skills and international experience for (upcoming) teachers throughout their training.
Students from the Faculty of Education shared their experiences in 2 short talks—about the experience of doing an Erasmus stay in southern France and working as a foreign language assistant at a school in Brittany, France. As future teachers, the speakers talked about the important lessons they learned for their future work in a globalized and heterogeneous learning environment. They were followed by a teacher who had spent 6 years at a German school in Washington, USA and had to challenge stereotypes and clichés.
The event closed with enough time and opportunity for personal exchange and networking over snacks and cold beverages.
The network was founded in cooperation with the Faculty of Education at Universität Hamburg and the section for Europe and international affairs at the Ministry of School and Vocational Education within the framework of the project Diversity Contexts in Teacher Education. You can join the network by subscribing to our newsletter. The newsletter contains various information, including details about our next alumni event, which is planned for the end of November.
