On Nov. 28 the faculty offered students and employees the opportunity to learn more about the school system and teacher education in Ghana as well as about the ongoing cooperation between the UHH and the University of Education in Winneba Ghana during a talk given by Prof. Dandy George Dampson, guest lecturer, and Prof. Telse Iwers.
Prof. Dampson, who holds a guest lectureship at the faculty this winter semester, presented participants an insight into the Ghanaian school system as well as the country's process of teacher education. Attendees were eager to discuss, ask questions and learn more about the topic.
Afterwards, Prof. Iwers introduced the audience to the cooperation between the two universities, which includes the exchange programs Diversity Contexts in Teacher Education as well as the Tricontinental Teacher Training program. Students who had in the past participated in these programs were happy to share photos and stories of their own (teaching-)experiences in Ghana. A final discussion round allowed all attendees to reflect on the new information and ask further questions.
For further information on the cooperation between UEW and UHH, feel free to check out the International Office’s Website. To learn more about Prof. Dampson and his guest lectureship, make sure to check out the freshly published interview, in which he answers questions about his teaching, research and his arrival in Hamburg.
