A new article by Tina Waschewski, Anke Grotlüschen and Astrid Müller is now available. Abstract:
The demand for integration courses with literacy development has strongly increased, while at the same time the performance data for these courses are constantly declining. The common, phonological based concepts do not lead to the desired results. However, writing-structure oriented approaches, which have shown their learning effectiveness in mainstream schools, have hardly been taken into account in literacy courses so far. This is where the research project comes in. In workshops, course instructors were introduced to a writing-structure oriented approach. Afterwards, they were asked in interviews whether, and if so, with which adaptations this approach can be used in adult literacy courses. The arguments were systematized and show chances and limits of transferability.
