LiDS cordially invites you to the welcome symposium for Alexander von Humboldt Professor Ingrid Piller!

In her research on the interplay between language, culture and society, Prof Dr Ingrid Piller shows how linguistic practices make a decisive contribution to participation and identity formation in multicultural communities. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she was awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, which she took up at the University of Hamburg in 2025.

We at the ‘Literacy in Diversity Settings (LiDS)’ Research Centre are taking this as an opportunity to hold a welcome symposium for Ingrid Piller on 16 May 2025, to which we cordially invite all interested parties.
