School education in a society of increasing linguistic diversity: A comparative perspective between Japan and Germany.
Diversity is one of the key concepts of our time. How diverse a society is and how it deals with diversity is diverse. Wouldn't it be interesting to consider the diversity of diversity? Comparative studies will surely be helpful for the discussion. Dr. Yuki Tachibana is an associate professor of the faculty of education at the Utsunomiya University in Japan. Her research in the field of language development focuses on creating effective teaching methods for children from a multilingual background, and she wants to discuss a German-Japanese comparative perspective on the linguistically diverse situation in schools as well as the political and theoretical responses to it.
This lecture is organized by the faculty research center "Literacy in Diversity Settings" and is open for students and lecturers alike.
The event will take place on December 12., 5:00pm; VMP Room 424.
